Sugarbush Race Club news

The past few weeks have been busy with races, social meet-ups and the dance.

On Tuesday, Todd Carroll, an SRC member and proprietor of WinterStieger, invited the Club to view a demonstration of  the latest CNC ski sharpening machine. It was an informative and delightful time. Of course, we were all convinced that our skis aren’t sufficiently tuned which explains why we aren’t keeping up with Todd on the race course. The Club served pizza and drinks while the engineers and motorheads lingered on with their questions.

On Thursday the Club held its final club sponsored race at Sugarbush. The course was in excellent shape and gates were set tight at the bottom. Again, Todd Carroll came in first with Mike Dixon and Jon Rickard in the chase. Mike was slowed by catching his arm in a gate and taking the flag with him. He did have some choice words to describe that incident. Dave Ellison stood out with a good time followed by Ray Bollerud and Mike Sharkey.  Pam Piper, the lone women racer, bless her heart, her competitors were out of town or on the injured list.  We are hoping that Jan Goba recovers quickly from her shoulder injury.

In the coming weeks the club will have several other social gatherings, a Race clinic and race at Cochrans Ski Hill.  Many members will participate in the annual Chez Henri Race and then we will celebrate the end of the season with a traditional grand finale on St Patrick’s Day at the Wilsteins.
