A late start for the 2024 racing season

The season may have gotten off to a late start but we are now in full swing.  There are three races at Sugarbush this February and a Clinic and Race Combo at Cochran’s in March.

Twenty racers showed their stuff on Thursday. The course was set for quick, wide turns –  close to perfection for our first race of the season.  Cheryl Brayman came in  first for the women with Janyce Goba chasing her.  Chris Lowenstein and Todd Carroll were neck-n’- neck for the  lead and Doug Day gave them a close chase. Steve Ham-Ellis held onto his lead in a group of five evenly matched racers. One notable racer (not to be named) apparently slept through the event which will surely effect his season’s tally.

The Sugarbush staff conducted a flawless race event. Members were very appreciative of their effort.

On the social front, we’ve been very busy.  Weekly socials have been held at The Bluestone, Nellie’s at Night, Emily’s , Hideaway and Deco.  In the next few weeks, we will visit Madbush, MadRiver Barn and Chez Henri.

This Saturday we put on our dancing shoes and had a great time at the Annual Gala.  The setting (upstairs at Valley Meade) was a winter wonderland.  Lights twinkled in every window and table.  The music, mostly oldies from the 60’s to the 80’s was a joyful walk down memory lane.  Richard, from DJ Services kept us on our feet revisiting our favorite moves.
