Sugarbush Racing Club Holds Annual Kick-off Party

Sunday, December 13, the Sugarbush Racing Club held its annual Kick-Off party at Sugarbush’s Castlerock Pub. Seventy-four new and current members gathered for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres to hear Win Smith, Sugarbush President, and Russ Kauff, Director of the Ski and Ride School, talk about the upcoming ski season, improvements at the mountain and an overview of the NASTAR/USSA merger. Members of the Club’s committees spoke about new membership, the racing season, and social events for the year.

The membership committee was pleased to announce the addition of roughly 20 new members to the roster of approximately 106. Each of the new members was also introduced and welcomed by the group. The Club will hold eight races this year, beginning in January, and run every Thursday until early March. They will also host four racing clinics throughout the year for members that will also be open to the public for an additional fee. One of the highlights of the season is the annual Feature Race on the Spring Fling Legends course. The race will be renamed and dedicated to past president, John Wilson, who passed away earlier this year.

Après-ski parties are hosted every Thursday by different restaurants throughout the Valley. Special events include a Wine Tasting party at Tracks at The Pitcher Inn, a Winter Interlude Potluck and Dinner Dance at Terra Rossa, a Year End Banquet, as well as summertime gatherings for a barbecue and a golf outing.

The Club is a friendly, fun organization that welcomes all levels of racers as well as social members. If you would like more information, please go to their website at sugarbushracingclub.com.
