SB Race Club Hosts Second Annual Golf Outing

Perfect weather greeted the six foursomes of ski racers gathered for the second annual golf tournament, one of several non skiing events the 140 member Sugarbush Ski Racing Club has planned.  The event , the brainchild of Social Chairperson, Deb Koch, and her partner, Pat Apigian, was held at the Sugarbush Golf Course on a Tuesday in July and was organized by Sugarbush staffers Rob Schonder and Jen Yacavoni.
A shotgun start enabled the golfers to complete their rounds in record time in order to join another 27 of their fellow members and guests for pizza and beverages ably supplied by Gary and his crew at Hogan’s Pub.
The tournament format was a two person scramble for nine holes.  Manny Apigian and Wayne Foster were awarded the top prize for the lowest team score while Dave Ellison and Barbara Christiano garnered the longest drive awards for their efforts on the seventh hole.  Suzanne Peterson was the closest to the pin on hole number eight.  Awards were also given to the highest scoring team of siblings Lucy Anderson and Walter Oberlander while the prize for the shortest drive on the first hole went to Larry Bennett and Deb Koch!
An award not normally seen at golf tournaments for the foursome with the slowest time was given to Jay Kearns, Elaine Blankenship Sigi Haslinger and Gunnar Sievert and another unusual award for the best dressed was won by Jula Fender and Lauri Landau.  Great fun was had by all and the club is looking forward to it’s annual fall cook out during the Columbus Day weekend.
