Sunday, December 14th will be Sugarbush Racing Club’s annual Signup and Kick-off Party. It will be in the Castlerock Pub starting at 4:30PM. It features snacks and a cash bar. Prospective members are invited come and sign up for a season of fun.
Thursday is race day at Sugarbush. Join the Sugarbush Racing Club for a two-run race with friendly rivalry and a great apres-race party at a local restaurant. We have exclusive use of the course on Racer’s Edge which is open from 10AM to 1PM. And once a season we will be back on the famed Legends course on Spring Fling.
Whether you are honing your racing skills to challenge the pacesetter or a wannabe, merely going around the gates to get down, the Club offers an opportunity to improve your racing and have fun doing it. You don’t have to be a former high school or college racer to compete and win. The club uses a handicap system to level the playing field and give all members a chance to improve and challenge for bragging rights. In addition, our races count toward NASTAR rankings.
If you are a visitor to the Valley or a nonmember but would like to participate, we encourage you to come out and join us. Nonmembers can participate in one race before making a decision to join the club. The only requirement is that you are at least 18 years old. Skiers and riders are welcome. If you are not a member, register on race morning with one of the race club volunteers in the Gate House and go straight to the start gate.
Working with Sugarbush’s Ski and Ride School, three race clinics are planned. These will be separate half-day sessions for beginners, women-only and advanced racers. Clinics will be on a closed GS course before the slopes are open to the public.
Club members have also participated in a Master’s clinic at Cochran’s Ski Area in the past. And each year many members race in the famous Chez Henri Cup and the Vermont Senior Games.
For non-racers, the Club offers plenty of opportunities to have fun. Our post-race parties are great and you get a chance to visit many of the Valley’s restaurants. There are other social events which will no doubt appeal to you including a golf outing, a Fall cook out, a mid-Winter dance and a fabulous year-end banquet.o
