Sugarbush Racing Club Fun Race March 16 10:30 AM

SRC’s annual Fun Race theme is “Spring Break at the Beach.” The way this year’s weather has been, the Sugarbush beach could mimic Miami, Florida, or Barrow, Alaska. Colorful costumes are encouraged, but not required. Two runs on the Racer’s Edge courses are free for SRC members. Additional runs are possible at usual NASTAR rates, but a free lunch begins in the Valley House at 11:30 and you won’t want to be late. The following week, dieting is encouraged, and always required.

The SRC races scheduled for March 8 were cancelled due to weather. The conditions were at least as challenging as they had been March 1, so the SRC elders and the Sugarbush Racing Department opted for safety.|

The March 8 post race party at The White Horse Inn was well attended and great fun. It was the second consecutive week that produced a donation over $100 to Vermont Adaptive Skiing. Bob and Allen, owners of The White Horse Inn, not only provided heavy hors d’oeuvres and deserts, but they provided take-out boxes for the left-overs. I didn’t need supper afterwards, and I suspect many members had the same experience.

The SRC season ending awards banquet will be held on Thursday, March 22 at the Round Barn Inn again this year, with cocktails starting at 4:30, not 5:30 as previously reported. Entree choices are beef, salmon and pasta. This has always been a well attended event that recognizes the top ranked skiers in the club. There will be a raffle for gifts from sponsors and numerous door prizes.

Cost for the dinner is $40 per member and $45 per non-member. Cash bar. Please send reservations by March 16 with meal choice to Gordon Hoare PO box 396 Warren VT 05674. gordon@sugarbushracingclub.com. Mail a check or bring one to the Fun Race lunch.
